We are Mick and Lyn Stephens the owners of the Breakers Absolute Beachfront Apartments since 2001.
We bought the management rights after friends of ours were running a complex in Burleigh heads. We stayed there a number of times and watched what they did. It really appealed to us, fitted a lifestyle we were looking for and we love the beach. We were at a time when we were looking for a change of scenery so it was a great opportunity to make the leap.
We came from Sydney’s northern beaches, so choosing a beach location was a must for us. Mick was a manager with Telstra for 20 years and I was in the motor trade, working in a business with my father and siblings for 28 years. When the opportunity to move to the most beautiful location in Australia arose we snapped it up. We have now been managing the Breakers for more than 20 years, we love the Gold Coast and there is simply nothing better than waking up looking at the ocean every day.
Our passion is to provide visitors and guests with a great place to stay. We love to keep our property looking great so guests can relax and really enjoy their time here on the Gold Coast. Obviously we love our life and our work as we have done it for so long and still wake up each day with a passion for it. What we love most about our lifestyle is the flexibility of running our own business, working from home and meeting lovely people from all walks of life.
In addition to the location, the building and the guests, we love being a part of the Gold Coast Tourism Industry. We have made some amazing connections over the years and we have always felt so supported by the industry and Destination Gold Coast. Wherever we can we travel overseas to promote the destination and participate in as much as we can to support the industry that supports us.
The Breakers Absolute Beachfront Apartments acknowledge and pay respect to the land and the traditional families of the Yugambeh region of South East Queensland including the Gold Coast and their elders past, present and emerging.
